Unwanted sympathy

by alexandra   Mar 11, 2005

After all the tears
After all the pain…
It becomes hard to hold on much longer.

Losing someone you loved
To something you couldn’t control,
You feel hopeless
And helpless.
Watching them die.
Watching everything die.

Every memory will be cherished
But what hurts more
Is that they aren’t there anymore
To make new ones.

And you receive sympathy
From everyone that claims to care for you
But you don’t want to listen to them…
Apologizing about something that has nothing to do with them.

Apologizing about something
That you haven’t accepted just yet.
But they keep pushing.

Their compassion is appreciated
But their words are hurtful.
They mean no harm…
They just don’t understand…

That you just don’t want a constant reminder
Of the horrible thing
You’re trying to ignore.
