Soldier

by Shelby G.   Mar 11, 2005

As I wipe away a tear, another grows in my eye
Seeing them struggle to save their lives, I cannot help but cry
Lt. helps his wounded men, he can hardley save himself
Fighting through the bullets and bombs, The Lt. has gone through hell
Three men down, a few to go, Taken by surprise
One soldier crawling through the grass, bleeding as he tries

One by one, men taken down, so many young men die
It hurts me here, on the inside, to see a soldier cry
Earning respect by helping their land
More than just a helping hand
Two more soldiers fell apart, only Lt. remains
He goes insane and gives up hope, but who is there to blame?
Stand down, Stand by, but don't stand up if your not man enough
Who said war was just a breeze? it's brutal and its rough
But still my heart will always weep, and tears grow in my eyes
Because it hurts to see them hurt, when a soldier cries
