The storm

Someone once told me
not to give in
to look at the world around me
and then chance a glance at within

at night under my sheets
all snuggled and warm
i look within what i don't feel on the out
the ongoing raging storm

i feel in my heart
the clouds covering the sunshine
i hear in my ear the thunder
trying to block it out in my mind

just listen for the birds chirping
close your eyes, pretend theres warmth on your face
imagine palm trees being lapsed by waves
imagine the salty smell, salty taste

standing being drenched in the rain
imagining the Caribbean sun
looking in on my heart
thats only image that comes
