A Young Life Lost

by Jane   Mar 21, 2005

Coming home from school,
going the same way,
no on could have predicted,
this would be the day.

she was a happy child,
never alone,
but this was the day,
when she won't make it home.

this is the day,
every mother dreads,
having to hear from the police,
her baby is dead.

Drinking and driving,
Do not mix,
Think of this girl,
She was only six.

Her life was taken,
By a drunken man,
Who thought to drive would be fun,
After a couple of cans.

A hit and run,
The police said it was,
A life was taken,
A young life lost.
