Thank You

by Rachael   Mar 24, 2005

I know we're no longer together
It's bittersweet but true,
I admit I used to mope around
Feeling sad and blue.

I think about the way we were
And how we used to play,
I think about the dreams we shared
And the sweet words you would say.

You opened my eyes
To a brand new sight,
You never backed down
When we had a fight.

You grabbed my hand
While you held my heart,
You helped me mend
What was torn apart.

You helped me to realize
That I didn't need,
Everything I thought I did
I only needed me.

You pulled me out of the shadow
I lived in every day,
You didn't quite see it through
But you helped me on my way.

We're taking two separate paths now
And I'll probably let you go,
But from the depths of my heart
I really need you to know.

We didn't last that long
But it was long enough to see,
That even though you hurt me
You really set me free.

I just want to say thank you
For all you've done, you see,
You taught me so much more
Than any pain that you caused me.

I'll hold you in my heart
And fondly think of you,
I know who I can turn to
When I don't know what to do.

I'm glad we're such great friends now
And that our feelings didn't die,
I know I'll still have your shoulder
When I want to break down and cry.

Thank you for having faith in me
In the hopeless life I lived,
And thank you for the unconditional love
That you still freely give.
