A Silent Scream Deafens

by Brad Edwards   Mar 24, 2005

Each night she cries herself to sleep, licking her wounds and listening to the screams. While she sleeps those horrid visions come… And the blood drips warm across her face. Now as she awakes to a sun that doesn’t rise today and that horrid owl singing death’s new song… And she’ll never have the chance to know what could have been… That maternal love is but hate. This depression now takes her over and she picks up the same steel blade she used to slit her own wrists. She can’t do this now… it must not, it never will. This new day she sits and takes those deadly blows… And she bleeds still. Finally the sun now sets, tonight she will go down. While she lies sleeping, the knife slowly tickles her tender flesh… And she smiles. She holds that knife over her smiling mother, and she know’s this is it. With her own hair, she ties her down. Slowly she slits… her limbs twisted bleeding. As she slowly pulls that blade across the wrists a trail of crimson makes her smile. Now she finally moves to that sacred spot. The knife is slowly pushed in to her tender throat. She gagged out three words… I love you. She chokes and gags and finally falls silent and limp. Now her daughter says four words back to her dead mother… I hate you too!
