Just For A Moment

by AntiSocial16   Mar 26, 2005

I don't write inspirational poetry, but I thought I'd try something different. Let me know what you think. Thanks!

Just for a moment
Let old memories be missed
And bad thoughts be forgotten
Let’s just pretend the past doesn’t exist

Suppress those haunting nightmares
Dry up those cried out eyes
Tell those you love you’re sorry
For hiding behind that mask of lies

Just for a moment
Take off the mask you wear each day
Look in the mirror and say you’re beautiful
Make everything really okay

Put down the blade you used
On all those hopeless nights
Give yourself some credit
When you do something right

Just for a moment
Make a new friend so you’re not alone
Tell yourself you don’t need that blade
You can live without it on your own

Cap every bottle of pills
Dump out all that alcohol
See how much it hurts when loved ones see you
And you’re walking drunk down the hall

Just for a moment
Cleanse you body and really breathe
Tell yourself you’re stronger than this
You are, you just have to believe

Save the money for something exciting
Don’t use it for your gambling habit
Remind yourself of the new car you want
And how much it is to get it

Just for a moment
Let old memories be missed
And bad thoughts be forgotten
Let’s just pretend the past doesn’t exist

Everyday is a new beginning
From the day that came before
So start this one safe, strong, and healthy
And have days like this more and more
