It was great
I felt so safe
But things started to fade
And I was looking around
For another hand to hold
And I made mistakes

I found someone else
Thought it was love
So I ended it
Decided it was best
If I was feeling love
For someone else
Then it should just end

I told him how I felt
He was fine for awhile
But there was distance
He was backing away
And then he did it
Left me alone
And now I hate him
Hate him for what he’s done to me

Then you came along
And you told me your feelings
Less like feelings
Closer to thoughts
And then I realized
Maybe I wasn't over you
Maybe it would work again
And I fell for you
Once again

I tried to convince myself
That I didn’t like you
That you were just a friend
But it didn’t work
So I tried something else
I tried convincing you
That you don’t love me
And it worked
It worked too well

So now I know
For sure this time
That things won’t work out
Like they did once before
Your arms won’t be around me
Like they were earlier
And now I know
That we’re really over
And I’ll be all right
I’ll pull myself up
And face another day
