Forever, You and I

by Jackie Bilson   Mar 30, 2005

Life's colour drained from your face,
And your kiss, I no longer taste.
My heart is broken, my tears they fall,
I had lost my one, my only, Paul.

For weeks, for months, for years I cried,
I had been ripped and torn inside.
I lost you, but now I know,
Our love will forever continue to grow.

I'll go through life and live for you,
Just like I know you'd want me to.
I'll be safe, and to me that's clear,
For I will always have you near.

One faithful day, I'll be with you,
I'll hold you again, I know it's true.
Because every night, that you're gone, I'll pray,
That I will be back with you someday.

Though now I'm old, and gray, and worn,
My heart still beats for you alone.
And I know you're still with me,
For you are my soulmate, my destiny.

**Thank you for reading. This poem isn't actually from experience. I just used an old friend's name and tried to imagine how it would feel if you lose your soulmate.**
