The Image

Once upon a time there was a girl everyone knew,
so young and gentle, unbroken, and true

she lived in a magical world like Fairyland,
but one day the magic disappeared now no one understands

the little girl got older now no one knows her name,
and if they do remember her they say shes not the same

nothing left to look forward to not even wishing on stars,
she feels imprisoned in her body locked behind bars

when she looks in the mirror theres no happiness in her eyes,
she sees nothing but a face covered in lies

when people ask how she is, she fakes a smile,
to hide how she really feels, at least for awhile

one day the magic will return and she'll be reborn,
her eyes will shine again, and she'll no longer feel forlorn
