My wings

by Sinister Soire   Apr 9, 2005

Soft and swift my wings unfurl
And I try to take the sky
Calm down my boy it is too soon
Your wings can’t yet fly

Thin and pink they are so sore
Still bloody from my back
So feeble in there infant state
The strength to fly they lack

Slowly through weeks of work
I slowly lift off the ground
Such a feeling that this is
My spirit has been found

Only a moment in the air
And I’m falling back to earth
A few small feet of the ground
And I experience my rebirth

Wings open and catch the wind
The dried blood falling fast
Gliding slowly to the ground
Forever this will last

Gracefully I spread my wings
Glinting white for all to see
Finally able to hit the skies
The one above is me

Soaring everywhere I can
Wings blowing in the wind
Higher higher to the sky
The world left behind

Softly I come in to land
My wings still young and frail
Slowly stronger they will get
Till they blow a mammoth gale

I lay down to sleep at night
Encompassed by my wings
Dreaming of another day
And all the joy it brings
