Hero's Birthday

by Saige   Apr 10, 2005

Today is the anniversary of my Aunt's brother's birth. He was a member of the NYFD that like so many others on that horrible day in September 2001 lost his life. I took a moment to write and dedicate a few verses to him and all those souls lost that day.

A savior, a true hero?
If asked you'd say not.
You earned recognition
Something you never sought.

So many heroes lost
On the dreadful, mournful day.
It is my wish that we never forget
We pray and give thanks everyday.

It is not the politicians
That claim to keep us "safe".
But rather those in uniform
Keeping alive our freedom and faith.

Today an anniversary of your birth
A true hero to the very end.
As those towers came crashing down
Into God's loving arms we did send.
