LAST NIGHT

by E SELEITHIA WOODS   Aug 28, 2003

I watched you sleep last night.
I'd grown accustomed to sleeping alone
Rolling over cuddling the pillow while staring into the night.

I watched you sleep last night.

I touched your face and caressed your lips
And you puckered for a kiss.
I gladly obliged.

I heard you breathing last night.

Tears of joy appeared for it was not my own breathing that awakened me
T'was yours in fact breathing so peacefully.

I watched you sleep last night.

I secretly hoped it was me that made you smile in your dreams.
Your face brightened the room, outshining the stars and the moon as I watched you sleep last night.

It was all quite right last night.
Its never been that a man lay next to me breathing the air I breath and
Feeling the way I do.
I didn't want to take the risk of falling asleep and waking up to your absence
So, I fluffed my pillow and prepared for nocturnal security to
Watch you sleep last night.
