The Locks Within

by Eden   Apr 12, 2005

(This is more of a short story than anything else...but it\'s not even really as long as that. I don\'t know what to call it, but I hope you enjoy it:)
------------------------------------

--Do you think that whoever reads this will understand? You are such a complex being that no one could comprehend either who you were, who you are, or who you might or will become. If trials make thee stronger, then suffer more? No. Have no more suffering. Accept thine fate...--

Whispers in my mind...the intrigue and mystery always keeping me interested in how deep a darkness\' depths can be. To me, I visualize it as a black pool where your stomach and innards would be, and the walls of your skin a deep onyx with faint red glow. Chains in the water...This spiritual water. And trapped therein a creature so small, yet so fearsome and powerful and monstrous, it is not so small after all.

This creature seems chained and secure, yet its power is not merely so much physical as it is mental. It is not gagged and taciturn; rather, it can speak freely.

And each time you close your soul-glitter eyes and listen, it grows and waits patiently for that one day when you will hand it the keys of freedom.

And then that day comes. You approach it cautiously from above. There is no light to aid you. You descend these spiritual depths which are inside you and you step lightly upon the evanescent waters. Ripples search and feel around your toes as the creature before you studies you in awful silence; a smirk upon its lips.

Glittering eyes search you with invisible tendrils, their black slits a Neptune of your soul.

Yet you step ever so lightly towards it...You know the danger, yet this demon\'s gaze overpowers you and you cannot stop yourself from taking a lock in your hand.

As you lift the key to open the abyss of metal shackeling this creature, he lifts your chin gently and you look into his eyes. They are compassionate. He sayeth,

-Young one, be wary what you are doing. Child, consider it all. What doest be wanted by thee?-

Click...the chains fall from their once-imprisoned fiend. You have unlocked and freed this demon.

The demon solemnly nods and looks at you.

-Say it-
He says to you...

\"Come to me, My Angel of Darkness. Be with me for eternity.\"

-My name-
He says to you...

Then you would give his name. What next will happen? Why, slowly his form would dissimilate and push together. Your eerie wail would be heard throughout both heaven and hell. You sing a song of necessity.

Now your mouth is open in a single note of perfect music, as is your soul complete. The demon\'s form enters your mouth in a single stream of fire and makes its home within. Your arms outstretched to either side, you are not burned. Now his eyes burn as one with your own and you relapse from the empty waters and blackened onyx to the mortal realm.

You have chosen our path.
Do not say you were never warned.
