An Empty Picture Frame

by strawberrykiwi   Apr 15, 2005

A smile on the face
Yet no happiness within
All the right answers
But the wrong question

Looking in the mirror
No reflection looks back
Eyes are open
Still everything seems black

Afraid of self
Nothing else to fear
Entire soul trapped
In a single tear

Footprints like in sand
Just washed away
Down on my knees
Vainly I pray

Staring at stars
On a cloudy night
Nothing to say
So on I write

Disconnected phone line
But waiting for its ring
False hope, false dreams
False everything

Walking on by
With no shadow beneath
Trembling all over
Sweaty palms, gritted teeth

Holding it in
Letting emotions subside
The perfect frame
But nothing inside
