The Everything-and-Nothing Anonymity

by Monique   Apr 16, 2005

You can't feel me,
Nor the pain in my soul,
My smile is in denial,
For I've sold all I own.

I live by the weather,
I am a sparrow,
A hawk.
I'm something of your nightmares,
Then again,
I'm not.

You love and hate me,
And you just don't know why.
You cannot see me,
Touch me,
Taste me,
Or hear my cry.

My voice is an echo,
Against the brick wall,
For I’m terribly tiny,
But then again,
I'm tall.

I'm your fear,
Your hope,
Your fantasies,
I'm everything you want me to be.
I'm a hug on a frigid winter day,
I'm a bodacious blonde with nothing to say.
Then again I'm not.

I'm your opinions,
Your thoughts,
Your favorite presidential candidate.
I'm your grief,
I'm your hate,
Then again,
I'm your fate.

I can be your best friend or
Your worst enemy.
I'm the grass,
I'm the sky,
I'm the sea.
Then again I'm not.

I'm nothing and everything,
I'm everywhere,
I'm cold I'm hot;
Then again...
I'm not.
