The Road's Secrets

by Monique   Apr 16, 2005

I'm passing down this lonely track,
Pondering, you see,
I have forgotten where I am,
And only the road I see.

So empty is the pavement,
So desperate is the tar,
Mystery filled within it;
It stretches so far.

Where it goes,
I cannot say,
No vehicles upon it,
Day after day.

Maybe a road to heaven,
Maybe a road to hell.
Maybe a road to purgatory,
But only they can tell.

So save me from these tracks,
That runs long and narrow,
For only time can reveal the mystery of the road,
And the lonely black sparrow.
