The Downfall

by Kristy Green   Apr 18, 2005

A great hope fell
you heard no noise
The downfall was within
Oh, skillful wreck that told no tale
And left no witness
A not admitting of the wound
until it grew wide
That all my life had entered it
And there it was
nothing but a long vessel beside
A closing of the simple lid
That opened the sun
Until the tender carpenter
Everlastingly nails it down
