That Morning

No light beckoned that new day
The birds did not twitter
No cockerel crowed
Only light being your eyes and their glitter
The eyes fixed on mine, telling me things words cannot say

There were no curtains to draw in the darkness
Nothing was seen, just felt
Unseen hands were hugging me in the dark
Lying beside him time crumbled to melt

I had but a few hours sleep
I knew what this new day would bring
But I was ignorant cooped up in his arms
Safe, tucked under his wing
It’s an embrace I wished to keep

An eternal love stretched, bridging our eyes
We knew too well of each other
Our lips found their own way
And our hands pulled back the cover
Such emotional ties
Feeling heavenly skies
But only with him
Only with him

His hands always felt like a feather
Tickling mischievously
His lips were always so enticing
As our tongues met deliciously

I’m as light as that feather floating at his side
I know his thoughts echo mine
But the knock wakes me from my ignorance
If only we had more time

Too little time is granted to lovers
Those who value it most do not receive enough
Light coated our eyes, blinding us
We stayed together. We had to stay tough
For time is little but we have each other
No time for another
