The real me

These people only know me
from what they see outside
but i wish they could see the real me
the one thats trapped inside

i hide behind the smile
that holds in all the tears
i try to be brave and strong
but i have many fears

i am afraid of the words of other
people and also of myself
i listen too much of these people
like their words are gonna help

i need to be independent
and listen to my heart
that advice i got from a friend
and to listen would be smart
