The Movement of Shadows

by Paul   Apr 21, 2005

It was fun,
They fell with laughter,
Showed their smiles,
Enriched with the light,
Of delight.

Played their games,
Shared memories,
From beginning,
To now,
They spent the time.

Their spirits were kindled,
Soaring through the air.
They believed in what was true,
And shared their love,
With each other.

But I saw the wrong way,
I looked into the darkness,
Ignored their sharing of care,
I thought about what was not real,
The fake mask of love.

This carried me on the night,
I showed it not,
For there should be happiness,
For those who truly deserve it.

The shadows carried me to my home,
To where I remembered those hard times,
And tears streamed down my eyes,
Realizing what horrid things I felt,
In the current time and past,
Waiting for the shadows to consume me.
