Beautiful When She Sings

by Jesse   Apr 22, 2005

Oh sing to me nothing short of a melody, dear. You say your voice is croaking and you sound like a frog in poor health, but I am sure I will not mind. Because anything that sails from your luscious lips will be such grace to my ears, and my elastic smile will stretch and stretch with each resonating note. Your voice will transcend even the mockingbird that guards the only streetlight on my block, and I will try my best to sing along. If only you will meet me half way by hearing all I have longed to say.

I will place my words in perfect stanza
And remember that you dislike rhyme
If the fog and night and starry sky allow me
I will sing aloud a loving sonnet outside your window
I will pray that you are awake

Because everything that has sailed from the shore of your lips has docked in my heart, and taught me to take for granted not another waking day with you in my arms.
