Us Against Them

by Rachael   Apr 29, 2005

I'm misunderstood
They just don't see
All the love
That's inside me.

I live my life
Behind a wall.
I fight so hard
Not to let it fall.

They think I'm hardened
Bitter and cold
I'm empty inside
So I've been told.

Yes, I'll admit
That used to be true,
Day after day
Then came you.

You're misunderstood
They just don't see
The kind-hearted person
That you can be.

You live your life
Behind a wall
You hold your head high
And walk so tall.

They think you're hardened
Bitter and cold
You'll never move on
So you've been told.

It may be true
About the pain and strife
Until the day
I walked into your life.

The feeling is mutual
Yet we both hold back,
We want to move on
But the strength we lack.

They tell us we're crazy
That it will never last
And we'll both be hurt
As in the past.

They say I'm too sensitive
And you're a jerk,
We're two different people
And it just won't work.

I can't believe them
They can't be right
I know you'll agree
It's worth the fight.

We'll prove them wrong
And put them in their place
Years down the road
We'll laugh in their face.

We're misunderstood
They just don't see
I'm perfect for you
And you for me.
