Tunnel

by Sinister Soire   Apr 29, 2005

Inside a long dark tunnel
I see a blinding light
Safely now inside a train
So I'm spared my fright

Quickly the other way it goes
And it seems we’re on our way
Just a normal passing train
But no not on this day

By some twisted twist of fate
I'm back inside the tunnel
This time no train to keep me safe
My fear acting like a funnel

Pulling all my fears to me
I see something at the end
I know what happens if I run
While it’s coming round the bend

I remember how I got here
Our train came off the track
And here comes another one
Down this tunnel black

What happens next I do not know
The train is coming still
The light goes from my eyes
While my lungs resist to fill

I awaken not sure if it is true
Or if I'm alive or dead
A breath struggled from my will
A spinning in my head

I'm lying in the tunnel
The lights shining over me
It was all real my train destroyed
How can my live still be

This reminds me of those typical action films. The hero is stuck in a train tunnel, and he always finds a way out. The person in this poem didn't though. Well described, good pictures, nice poem!
