Little Girl

I see a little girl
In my dreams every night
A little girl who crys
Herself to sleep time after time

She's so young and so fragile
So alone and so scared
She makes me want to reach out
Hold her and tell her I care

She crys for her daddy
But her daddy is not there
He's everywhere but where he should be
He doesn't seem to care

All she wants is a little love
A little tender care
But her daddy is too busy
With all he has to bare

He works hard for their money
Works hard for his family
Yet he doesn't know
That his little girl is calling

She longs for a hug
She longs for a kiss
But all she hears are screams
Of what a failure she is

She's crying again
Her chest is aching
And if you pay attention
You can hear her heart breaking

All she wants is her daddy
She longs for his touch
She needs a role model
To base other guys on

But her daddy's not there
He doesn't seem to care
He's lost in his own world
Where his little girl longs to belong

Oh please won't you love her?
Please won't you care?
Take a look at your child
It's a sight even I can't bare

I wake up in a sweat
Tears clouding my eyes
For this little girl in my dreams
This little girl is me.
