Behind Those Eyes

by Lindsey   May 1, 2005

Behind those eyes you cry
Hiding the pain of another sleepless night
You try not to hear the endless fight
But their screams echo through the dark bleak night
Another glass shatters against the cold white wall
And mother falls sliding onto the hardwood floor
Her sobs are faint, but filled with pain
Ripping through your heart like a cold sharp blade
Dad throws a punch, hitting her square in the eye
But she doesn’t give in and dries her eyes
You place the covers over your face, hoping you would
Drain out the pain and aguish that you face each day
The tears start to fall and you can’t help, but wish
He would just kill her so she wouldn’t have to deal with
Another black eye or the fights they get into each night
Maybe then everything would be alright
