Missing You

by JLT   May 2, 2005

Your smile is the sunshine in my sky,
My umbrella in the rain.
Your arms are my shield from darkness,
My protection from all pain.

Your heart is my desire,
What I need to make it through.
Your love is what I've longed for,
But never realized it was untrue.

Your tears are a stab deep in my heart
A weakness in my knees.
Your lies are my sanity crumbling
As I stare in disbelief.

Your false friendship for all these years,
Has ripped my heart in two.
You've left me in the darkness
As I continue to call for you.

Your happiness mocks me,
As I slowly fade away.
Your hatred is the emptiness that swallows my heart
As I think of you today.

The names you tell me are panic
As my heart begins to race.
Your memories are the tears
That stream endlessly down my face.

Your fading existence in my head
Is every thought that crosses my mind.
Your old self is what I look for
As I search one place in time.

The fake smile that covers
My sorrowful frown.
The missing space in my heart,
That keeps bringing me down.

The scars on my skin,
And the pain in my eyes,
Are the only proof they have,
I can't seem to disguise.

Yet the way that I laugh,
Is an obvious clue,
That all I can honestly think of
Is you.

You enjoying your new life
And new friends without me,
As I'm trapped in your memories wondering,
If there'll ever be another we...
