Cry of a Fool

by Jennifer Ross   May 5, 2005

Hopelessly in love
Your arms I chose to stay
But when they all laughed
I ran away

Caught up in self worth
Your heart I had broken
Then walked out the door
Without a word spoken

I was the fool
That tore us apart
Left me in shame
And you a bleeding heart

We had a secret bond
Everything was okay
Then hopes began to dwindle
And we drifted away

Focused on someone else
I failed to see
That all this time
You were the one for me

Realizing too late
I raced to your door
And confessed my true love
That had been hidden before

But it was no time for forgiveness
And too late for another chance
You wouldn't even spare me
One final, last dance

My words were overdue
And I knew I was wrong
Broken hearts can't forgive
They just try to move on

So I sit here today
In silence I pray
That you'll walk through that door
And kiss me once more
Forgive me of my senselessness
And forget about our past
Just take my hand in yours
And love me once again.
