Silent figure

by katie!   May 7, 2005

Hide behind the flowers, lost in the thorns
Under the leaves, beneath the heavens so high
Wings folded, behind her back, cracked and dusty
Longs to unfurl them, and soar beneath the sky

Raindrops fall, droplets through the cool air
Landing on her pale face, a beacon in the night
Flitting between the silence and cacophony of the city
Abrupt turns as she attempts once again to take flight

Body of charcoal, black and rough to the touch
She barely smiles but when she does
The rays of the moon, shine through her body
An angel of darkness, a bloodstained dove

Wanders alone through the teardrops and smiles
Clouded eyes, pupils black as ebony fire
Every step she takes, leaving a shower of regret
Just a step further, just a little higher

Figurine, stands out, silhouetted against the moon
For the world to see, as darkness seeps from her eyes
Her wings unfurl, shaking away the hurt
As she slips away, dissolving, she falls, she dies...

One thing about your poems is going in to read them you know right away you might be blown away with the imagery. It was beautiful, sad, and more like a dream that you can't touch.
