Shadows (moving on with life)

by Belgin   May 7, 2005

I stand in the shadows
Watching, waiting, listening
My face concealed behind a mask
Unreadable, and unnoticed

I watch as others move on
In the sunshine of the day
While I stay in the shadows
Day by day and night by night
No matter how hard I try to reach the light
I know I’ll be in the grey forevermore

The color may grow lighter and lighter
But it is still the grey and blue that haunts me
And I can be an inch from the sunshine
But I know that I’ll never make it
For the shadows have consumed me
Hope is lost and fear has long since passed me by
I stand alone
All alone and numb
