The One You Can't Have

Do you know how hard it is to pursue someone,
and they think you're just friends, it's just fun?
Your heart yearns to tell them, "I love you",
but you don't know how they'll react or what they'll do,.
They mess around and say some things,
but you take it literally, and yes it stings.
You dream of how happy you could be,
in his arms or upon his knee;
Watching the stars as you hold his hand,
and lie together on the sweet ocean sand.
But then you wake up and realize it's not true,
how could something that great ever happen to you?
It forces you to think, "why do I even try?
He will never be mine, he's too good of a guy."
Yet you still have this hope from inside you,
it's from your heart, for it knows what is true.
It knows you love this one,
and maybe this love you have makes life fun!
