The Rain

by *Sunshine*   May 14, 2005

As I'm lying here in bed tonight,
The storm wakes the midnight sky.
The lighting flashes above me,
And the thunder rumbles me inside.

This storm is not a violent one,
But one that soothes my mind.
It's so peaceful and refreshing,
Yet so hard and rare to find.

It's amazing what night can bring,
Something more powerful than all,
But can heal your heart inside,
Without making you trip or fall.

It's beginning to look a little wet,
As the rain begins to drop.
And I pray to thee God,
That thy rain shall never stop.

The thunder echoes in my mind,
And a voice suddenly appears.
It says that God won't ever stop,
Dripping down his tears.

The wind is picking up,
And I hear it blowing by.
A tree taps my window,
And shakes me up inside.

The water is dropping softly,
On the sidewalk down below.
And the storm is slowing down,
And so my friend, I must go.
