Answered Prayers

I said a prayer last night
One you would not believe
I prayed that God would bring us together
Or erase you completely from my memory

This relationship I cannot handle
Please, Father, help me
This love is too much
Even for the strong like me

I did not want you
No, not in the beginning
Now every night I dream of you
Holding me close for eternity

How did this happen to us
How did you win me so easily
I asked God for the answers
In return I found nothing

I said this prayer last night
Today you are still searing my mind
So I can only hope that God
Will bring us together for life
