No Longer A Victim

by Ariah Kaltesh   May 16, 2005

Look to the sky and see how it’s raining
The clouds cry for a heart that is paining
She’s a lonely girl with a terrible past
Who wishes each nightmare she had was the last

Her eyes are expressionless and her heart is like ice
Because a man destroyed her and she paid the price
She was an innocent who now no longer is
She was only ten when he took more from her than a kiss

Now as she sits alone on her windowsill
She thinks of the man she’d always wanted to kill
Her fury writhes inside her like a deadly snake
But as she lets it build, she’s unaware of what’s at stake

Downstairs on the news there’s a report of a crash
And a photo of a car with the front all bashed
The driver was killed and so was his friend
It’s a case of a drunk driving fatality again

When the news finally reaches the young girl’s ears
She is shocked at what she both sees and hears
The driver is the man who stole her innocence away
And now it’s just one more thing that’ll haunt her each day

Well, she got her wish but she’ll never know why
Was it just coincidence or did she make him die?
Maybe in us all this power burns yet lies unknown
Then again, maybe imagination is the only place where it’s shown
