A walk to Remember

by Lori Groth   May 18, 2005

*i had to write this for English b/c i had to write a poem related to a book i recently read and i chose to do it from "A walk to Remember" by Nicholas Sparks-enjoy!*

I walk with you on this cold winters day
Knowing my time left on Earth is short, I pray.

That for my life-threatening disease, they find a cure
But until they do, it’s something that I fear.

My father doesn't understand what it’s like between us
But I don’t know why he’s having such a fuss.

There’s nothing wrong with being who you are
Especially when my death is not too far.

It makes life better when I’m here with you
Because you’re the only person who’s ever been true.

There’s something about me that you don’t know I bet
You don’t know that I’m dying yet

How to tell you, I just don’t know
But I must tell you soon before I have to go

Then you did what I told you not to, you fell in love with me
Even when I explained it all to you, you still didn’t see

When I told you I was dying of Leukemia disease
There, dead in you tracks, is where you seized

Everything changed from then on
We did everything we could before I was gone

You were kind and nice all the times that you’d stay
To read the Bible with me each and every day

No longer did they tease me about the LORD”S plan
Because, for me, you were worthy enough to take a stand

But now I’m in heaven, and the view is wonderful here
Don’t forget that I’ll always be near

Just recall that stormy night, back in December
That will forever be a WALK TO REMEMBER
