Fire

by natalie   May 19, 2005

I woke up today
in an unfilled bed
Staring at a vacant room
I have myself to fault

and now fading
doesn’t appear so brutal

Now I hate each day
knowing that I can't be saved

Swallow me whole.
Leave no trace.

Your smile is concealing
Desire
Your smile conceals him.

He tells you everything you need to be
He tells you what you need to know

Step out of your comfortable world
Stop telling him what he wants to hear

Everything within you knows
Says more than what he’s said
So much more than bare conversations
Filled with bare words
He sets you on fire,
He turns you fake.
And you abide,
Ablaze at the possibility of love

Everything within looks like
Everything I detest.
Buried as deep as I can take myself
Cover me with lies
I’m itching inside my skin
it’s not my skin

You are everything that I wish I could be
You are everything that I want
You give me hope.

And you set me on fire.
