Speak

by Carlee Ann   May 21, 2005

Dare I say a word
Silence fills my mind
To speak aloud would be absurd
For I don't know what I'll find

I want to shout
But as I open my mouth there's no sound
I try to scream but nothing comes out
To my memories I am bound

Fear gags my throat
And escape it I cannot
It mangles every word, every quote
Entering my every thought

Blocking my way to be free
Like a dam for what is true
It won't let but tears escape me
Don't let it control you

Don't let yourself down
Face it straight without doubt
If not you'll surely drown
While you are in a spiritual drought

Speak before your voice is banned
Your abilities are presently great
Speak out while you can
Speak before it's too late.
