Let My People Grow

by olmy garcia   May 21, 2005

I’m not afraid to be this way
I’m not the only one
But then you been putting me in an awkward situation
Because of the way you critique my race
So what am I suppose to do wait around and see
How you take away our pride

The more you talk bad about my race
The stronger we become
You don’t know the best of Dominicans
Like our pride, I know one day you’ll decide if being racist is right
Racism strikes at every moment
And humanity does the undone

Why are there so much heartless people in the world
Who judge us on the race and not our souls
Leaving in our lives and in our hearts unfillable_You think your race is so perfect
And your race deserves more
You think that other races are the only criminals
This is a country of foreigners all from different races

One day you’ll be left alone
For being an ignorant and criticizing race cause you are worth nothing
You’ll never be a good example
But, there is one thing you have taught me, it’s how to learn to let go
