A Fall to Live For

by Tyler   May 26, 2005

We stood on top of the world once
a rock landing above waterfalls (she called it "home.")
when she slipped I made no move to grab her arms
I simply whispered to the wind "I loved you."
and she screamed up back at me, the roar covered her words
but I read her lips "I loved you too!"
I screamed back to her failing flight
"I'll see gravestones before we part!"
and I kept my promise as I lept
(in loneliness she cried)

as we hit the flaming waves my eyes burst open
for once I could see clearly
the burning cleansing shot away the tears
an amputation couldn't shock me more
even though it's just a dream I realized
this is the itinerary of the day I died
(in agony I cried)

it all came back to me, I clung to the wall (whimpering)
the funeral reminded me of the day we drowned
black coats toast to my health
I couldn't hold my breath when I yelled (turned over in my grave)
"I pushed her myself!"
(in grief they sang)
