Nature's Vampire

by Ashleigh Skye   May 27, 2005

The tiny sparkling strand,
glistens in the morning sun,
blowing gently in the wind,
the creation has just begun.

The morning dew starts to set,
makes the whole thing glisten,
when the spider is finally done,
it will sit in the corner, wait, and listen.

The whole thing sits invisible,
the spider is out of sight,
just sitting there waiting,
until the time is right.

The fly soars by oblivious,
to what dangers lye ahead,
unaware that sometime soon,
it might just end up dead.

It flys on by and suddenly,
it's stuck and cannot move,
it desperately tries to free itself,
from the web its body it cannot remove.

The spider crawls out of no where,
and slowly approaches its prey,
no longer will it be hungry,
the fly it will quickly slay.

It finishes eating its dinner,
and crawls back into the night,
waiting until the next time,
it needs another bite.
