Best Christmas Gift Ever

by Ivan Thomas   May 28, 2005

Every night it is the same
Same dream, same star-gazed wish
Every day it is the same
Same yearning want and repetitive thought.
To me this is love’s affection
Because affection is to love
As Christ is to God
--The Utmost Tangible Form
Yet intangible love remains
For Webster’s defines love like this:
“A deep, tender, ineffable feeling
Of affection and solicitude toward a person”
Ineffable being the key word
It means: Incapable of being expressed;
Indescribable or unutterable
So no matter how hard I try
I never can explain just right
The feelings I have for you
They’re ineffable, indescribable
Unable to be uttered,
Incapable of being expressed,
They are simply my affections
Call it my temptations
Or call it simply futile
Call it unimportant
But to me a kiss is simply my affections
Mistletoe: that is your present
I love you
