That Empty Bed

by Matt   Jun 6, 2005

Laying on that empty bed
Memories play like a movie
Scenes play on the ceiling
Looking through all the faces
Seeing where it went wrong
I prayed for forgiveness
For all that I've done
The room is mute with emptiness
No sounds but in my head
A deafening feeling in my ears
I've seen this world before
Through tinted glasses
And car windows, rolled up
Lived in the books I've read
And dreamed it was me
But nothing compares to this
Laying on the empty bed
I can feel her by my side
But I know who she is
Some ghost from my future
Come to rest her head
The weight on my chest so real
Scents I've never known
Fill my nose like it were real
But when I open my eyes
It all fades away
And I'm left on that empty bed
Watching my memories play through
With that ceiling as my screen
That no one sees but me
