Eyes

by Emma Carnage   Jun 7, 2005

What’s going on in your mind?
Those deep brown eyes staring at me
Give me nothing to work with
They let escape no feeling in your soul
You look so sad
Like all you need is a true friend
Someone to be there for you
At any time of night or day
I wish I could help you

That look you’re giving me
It breaks my heart to see it

Your black eyeliner frames your eyes
Helps to point them out
Your beautiful brown eyes
They have gold flecks in them
Thin lines of hazel
They’re so wide to the world
Trying to take in everything at once
They’re as deep as the oceans
And filled to the brim
With everything I’ll never know

I watch you sleep now
Your eyes are closed and you look peaceful

What I would give to have eyes like those
Eyes that whenever a person looks into them
They fall in love right away
Eyes so beautiful that there are no words
I can not describe their beauty
Those eyes hold unknown wisdom
You’ll never share what you hold in that mind
I’ll never understand what you’re thinking
But by looking into them
Drowning in your eyes
I can glimpse some of the wisdom
Come so close to touching it
But I could never gain something so marvelous
