Where is the war

by Billy Lei   Jun 8, 2005

The war is inside, outside
Outside wars exist in the mind
Inside wars exist in the heart
Transcending good and bad
Desire to be better, desire to be what I am not

Obstacles in the way; biggest one; myself
Desire to envy, envy to anger, anger to hate
Clouded is the path; stumbles to paths unknown
The war is outside yet inside
Order is needed, scales to be balanced

Balance inside, Balance outside
Inner Peace brings outer peace
Outside chaos disrupts inside order; Balances
Eyes need to be opened
Truths must be seen

A Separate Peace must be found
Each must discover themselves
Inner Truths, Outer Truths
To clarify the mind; to find the path
Till then we walk a clouded road

This is a poem I wrote for English class about a book called A Separate Peace by John Knowles
