Waking up to Reality

by Brook   Jun 14, 2005

I wake up, rub my eyes
And begin to look around
I don't know where I am
I go to move; I can't
I have been strapped down
Then I notice the color
Only one, the dreadful white.
I look down at myself
All bloody and bruised
But can't remember what happened
I go to move again,
Breaking a strap around my arm
I try to take off the other ones
An alarm sounds,
Surrounded by people suddenly
Telling me to calm down
I am calm, I continue to say
It's as if they don't hear
I'm strapped down again,
A shot put in my arm
I'm drifting back to sleep
Hoping to wake up alone.
