I can't

by Treakle   Jun 14, 2005

I wish I could but I can't anymore
Give to you what I have
It isn't you I've been waiting for
And in some ways I'm glad.
You moan at me while I cry
And wonder why you're here
And I know as time's gone by
It's loosing me you fear.
For when life is good
And everything's great
You enjoy this mood
And believe it's fate.
Sometimes we are meant for each other
And the other times we aren't
These other times why do we bother
I feel like we're both in a trance.
We rely on the good times
We ignore all the bad
I think you'll be mine
And this makes me sad
Because deep inside I know why
we can never be
As we argue, as you lie
It's the real you that I see.
You're not quite right
Something's wrong
Why do we fight
Must this go on?

Listen to your insticnts.............great write, most of us write what is in our hearts, or at least in our minds, so if this is a true life poem, get out now, you said "your not quite right" in your poem, I know to many people who knew that and stayed and it became a nightmare....if this is not true life, you are a very good writer, and you captured the fear, in a subtle way....either way great work, thank you for your wonderful comments on mine, please read and comment on a few more if you have time...thanks love ya Becky
