NEVER REALLY KNEW...

by Tawny   Jun 19, 2005

Never really knew that this was the last day I would see you alive,
Red flashing lights appeared that night,
Ambulance picked up your lifeless body,
Everything happened so fast,
Your life flashed before your eyes,
A farewell from me never happened,
Darkness surrounds all,
A thousand tears have fallen.

Now there lies your corpse,
In that thing called a casket,
Can’t bare to see your motionless face,
You are not living in pain anymore,
Seems as if you are in bliss,
Yet so pale.

Something in me just shattered,
Seems as if a bullet shot right through my heart,
Cried my eyes out when they closed your door,
It was the last time I saw your face,
Sadness filled me up inside,
Can never forget that day,
They put your body to rest six feet under,
I said my final farewell.

Days turned to months,
Months turned to years,
Went by so fast,
Seems as if it was just yesterday I heard
The sound of your warm voice,
When I visit your tombstone,
Can never go by without having a cry,
You are missed terribly.

DEDICATED TO MY GRANDFATHER.
