My very best friend

*A bit long*

On the night I decided
To leave my true love
I called you on the phone
To get some comforting advice

You told me that it would
All be good in the end
I would find someone new
You were my best friend

The next day at school
When I asked you to talk to him
To try and straighten things out
So we could maybe go back out again

You walked over to me
With tears in your eyes
Telling me he said no
You know I cried and cried

You let me cry on your shoulder
You held me in your arms
Telling me everything would get better
We would just have to take some time

That day though we were headed
With him and the basketball team
So I knew I would have to face him
It was the scariest thing I could dream

At the end of the game
Him and me hadn’t spoken
Not a single word
Inside I was dying; I knew what I had to do

You stood right there watching me
As I walked over to him
I told him I loved him
That I would always care

He looked me in the eye
Looked straight into my soul
Wrapped me up in his arms
Gave me my final hug

As he started to walk away
I knew I would break down
You were right beside me though
And told me not to frown

So all I have been trying to say
Is thank you for being there for me
You have stood by me and cared for me
You have been the very best friend anyone could ever be.
