Alone At Last

by elise   Jun 24, 2005

Although I may be sad,
inside I feel joy,
Although I feel envy,
inside I feel coy.

Although I feel abandoned,
inside I feel smug,
Although I feel forsakened,
inside I lie like a rug.

This friendship you have thrown away will be your last regret,
and the pride you've stolen away will be your last mistake,
I'm alone at last, free from agony,
and in this lonely world I live I will bring into my wake.

My heart knows not how it feels,
and it knows not what it does,
but now it sings and leaps alone,
simply for because.
