Captivity

This is my best poem yet, I wrote it for an R.E lesson!

Shadows and dreams of insecurity
Cold, steal hearts cursing my identity
Voices of silence running through my mind
Hear the footsteps counting down my time.

1st step for nothing and the 2nd step for not a soul,
I do not understand exactly what have I done wrong?
Iron bars surround my heart and any chance of hope,
And when I hear those footsteps I know I may not cope.

I see the figure of death in disguise
Snapshots of events flash before my eyes
This image of me crouched in a corner
Cries away as the footsteps come closer.

3rd step for nothing and the 4th step for not a soul,
I do not understand exactly what have I done wrong?
The 5th step is the step that keeps me wondering,
That maybe I will have another chance of life again.

Shadows and dreams of insecurity
Cold, steal hearts cursing my identity
A small spark of hope shines then disappears
A gun points at my head, So I face my fears.

Maybe in some other place or in another time
I might just be free to go out and live my life
But now I’ll have to wait, for darkness to descend
Because right now my hope is over,
My life is at an end.
